Not that I'm pissed at them or anything, I just get cranky when I cannot see. Which I cannot. >.<x

So I spent half the morning angsting around half-blind. And my nosebleed came back. And my mom found out and promptly made me take a couple of vitamin pills which are now lodged somewhere in my throat. X.x How's your nose, Aine?

AND I have an exam on Monday. Which I /CAN/ do without glasses, I suppose, I just wouldn't ENJOY it. I have awful vision, I posted the results of my eye test some time back. X.x CS in left eye. Blegh.

ANd my ma is going for high tea, and my dad is working, so they can't take me to make a new pair. (You know, my ma hasn't even noticed that I've lost my glasses yet. *blink*) At least, not until later. They've been after me to make another pair for ages. >.<x

And did I mention how much I truly loved biology class in school?

I mean, apart from the fact that the more you learn, the less things you feel are safe to eat? (I've sworn off kidney, for one, and nearly off fruit, after learning that it was the ovary of a plant, and that some of the fleshy stuff was the placenta, and... bleh.)

We got shown a sex-ed tape in class XD Same one we watched in Sec 2, with the tacky 'Love Land' and groping and naked people mixed with strategic cut shots to the inside of the sexual organs (which resulted in a few moments of squick, learning how they got the camera in there X.x) and a hilariously stupid voiceover. XD XD XD It ruled. ^^x Everyone should go watch it. Or something.

And we got one of those little floral-print iMacs, or whatever they're called. Well, we /borrowed/ one. XD It was kind of cool. My teacher played Beatles for us while we were failing our 'spelling' miserably.

I should have studied, I guess. But I forgot. X.x My friend was highly interested by the fact that the powerbutton glowed when it was on sleep mode. The Mac, I mean. Some people are too easily amused. :p

Well, it'd still presumably have a stomach, and while most important digestion and stuff happens in the intestines, as well as, ah, absorption of required materials (I think, I'm a bad girl and forgot all this stuff), feeding it or forcefeeding it wouldn't be /that/ messy.

Just don't expect it to survive very long, I guess. Depending on whether it's the small intestine or large intestine, which mostly just removes water.

Meh. My parents dragged me out and tried to make me eat, even though I /really/ wasn't hungry. And then later, we got ice-cream. Because Singapore weather is STUPID and HOT and Australia's lucky and going into Winter.

I tried some of that new Walls ice-cream. The lime one with the lame advertisement. XD It's... okay, I guess. Not really worth that much. Probably just the novelty of it all--it's just like that lime stuff that's on the outside of Split, which I like better, because it has vanilla and I am a vanilla bitsch. XD

What I /do/ like is the text printed on the container. "Nature-identical Lemon-lime flavoured low energy ice confection". XD I mean, lemon-lime flavoured is self explanatory, yes. But "Nature-identical"? XD And why do they see fit to mention that it's low energy, and the hazards of a diet that consists of low-energy? Is anyone /really/ going to try to live on that stuff? :P

Meh, why does Blogger only come back online when it's /late/ and my mom is nagging? :p

I passed my skin test, which is good, because needles still scare the heck out of me. Although the BCG hurts less than the skin test, which is sort of like someone sticking something red-hot under your skin and wiggling it around. It's worse if you're looking at the needle while it's going in. X.x

Although my eye test had quite miserable results. My right eye is apparently 6/36, and my left eye is blind without glasses. Or maybe not, but where the result should be, there's only a "CS", standing for 'cannot see'. X.x

Went for a Chinese Heritage thing at NTU, I think. Or maybe it was NUS. I forgot. X.x It was... well, kinda boring. They showed a videotape that I sort of dozed during (But I did NOT fall asleep, Aine. My eyes were closed, but I was listening. So there.), but so did everyone else, meh. Then we went walking around lots of exibits with a tour guide that spoke in Chinese. That was a bit more interesting, although the only bit where I really had fun was when we were making fun of Chop Suey. :p

Apart from that, the bus ride to and fro was more interesting, which is kind of sad, actually. XD Kaori came with us, so we were discussing the Weiss Family 'fic, and also the Houshin Engi evil 'fic. Which Aine should write. Now. *poke* I've been getting back into Houshin Engi, and working myself into depression over books 16 and 17. ;-;x I /will/ to scan the Houshin Taisen and YnM resoure book. Promise.

Either my internet connection hates the digicam, or my ISP was being screwy. Anyway, my dad got a new digicam (but it's for my sister, so I can only play with it for a while, grumble grumble) and installing the software apparently killed my connection. Or maybe it wasn't the software's fault, but then my connection /still/ died, and after throwing a bit of a snit (restarting killed ICQ, too, which worked perfectly fine, even though IE didn't. Wierd.), I uninstalled everything and had Chinese tuition.

After that, my connection started working again.

My computer is /wierd/. :p

I did take some pics, anyway. :p No, none of me, because I'd look pretty stupid trying to take a picture of myself, digicam or no :p

This is interesting.

A cancer research foundation is apparently starting a project for cancer research--a programme that runs when your computer isn't being used, that tests molecules against proteins, in order to try and find something that might help in fighting cancer.

Participants in the Intel-United Devices Cancer Research Project are sent a unit of molecules over the Internet. Their PC will analyze the molecules using drug-design software called THINK. The THINK software analyzes the molecular data by creating a three-dimensional model and changing its shape (or conformation) to attempt to dock it into a protein site. When a conformation docks successfully and triggers an interaction with the protein, it registers as a "hit". These hits are what this research hinges on. Any one hit may be the one that will ultimately lead to a cure. All hits are recorded, ranked as to strength, and filed for the next stage of the project.

Got this from a mailing list. And it's true. XD XD We have discussions in school all the time just on how remarkably idiotic the show and some of its contestants are. I used to /like/ the Flying Dutchman. ;-;x Although I stopped listening to 95 after Joe left the morning show...


Experts have identified the cause of the recent surge in noise levels
nationwide as agonized screams coming from viewers of the popular gameshow
"No One to be a Millionaire".


"We did a parametric test from a stratified sample of 400 people,"
said Dr Suan Shu Hao, a statistician from the Department of Statistics,
"And found nothing. So we just used our common sense. After
realising that the noise lasts only from 8 to 9pm on Wednesdays
and Thursdays, we decided that the gameshow had to be the cause
of this problem."

His research further showed that the three most commonly heard
screams were:

1."A, you idiot, A!"
2."F, you F-ing moron! F you!"
3.Those caused by the extreme pain of yanking hair out.

The reason for such dramatic outbursts seemed to be the "not too clever"
responses coming from the contestants on the show, said Dr Suan.

Keen to flaunt his own intelligence, he proudly displayed his years of
experience by deriving the theory: "Response stupid, scream. Response not
stupid, no scream."

Her theory certainly held up when sound levels reached all-time highs
last week.

One contestant, refusing to rule out the possibility of a nursery rhyme
character consuming roti prata, mee rebus or kopi-o, polled the audience to
find out just what Little Miss Muffet ate.

Decibel levels promptly soared past 130, equivalent to the noise
Malaysia Cup fans used to make when they were hurling vulgarities at the referee.

On the other hand, the audience displayed great control by giving her
the right answer although many were seen frothing at their mouths.

The show's host, the Crying Dutchman, who was reciting the "15 branches"
chant when we visited him, had nothing but praise for the audience.

"I know how they feel because I have extreme difficulty controlling my agony as
well, especially when the contestants deliberate over questions that my
dog can answer. I admire the audience a lot and look to them as a source of
strength," he said, choking up as another teardrop trickled down his cheek.

Residents who are unhappy about this phenomenon want to see the gameshow
go.

"It's absolutely appalling. I can't even sip my after-dinner Chardonnay
in peace," said Bukit Timah bungalow dweller Mrs Lim Tai Tai in a strained
British accent.

After revealing to her that the gameshow was the first in Singapore to
offer a prize money of $1 million, she exclaimed, "One million dollars a lot
meh?", before clearing her throat and resuming in her British tone: "I mean, a
million dollars really isn't worth the precious peace of citizens."

What then are the sponsors' responses to such irate complaints? Will
they withdraw this program from television?

No way, was the immediate response from Mr Chia Liao Bee, general
manager of McDunno, one of the sponsors of the show. "All the contestants so
stupid, either go home empty-handed or with $1000 at the most. Four sponsors share
$1000 in exchange for an hour of prime-time television ads. How to lose?" he
asked.

When reminded that one contestant had walked away with a whopping
$32000, Mr Chia said that the sponsors had learnt from their lessons and would no
longer allow smarter contestants to go far.

"If suay suay another smart contestant gets in the hot seat, we'll make
sure we get rid of them by, say, making them name the outer rings of Saturn in
order," he said, smirking while stroking his Hello Kitty. "If not, how do we
live up to the name of our gameshow?"

Mr Chin Woo Lui, CEO of co-sponsor ACDC agreed and elaborated on a
particular boost it had for his organisation: "Ever since the show started, our
lending rates have increased due to the hospital loans which have been taken out
for people who had to be warded for excessive blood vomiting."

Despite the high casualty rates, however, the show continues to draw
high ratings. Thus it seems that the show does have its warped appeal and
looks set to be a "roaring" success.

I have had my skin test. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, although it kinda hurt, and I was so scared I started giggling, before and after the test. ^^;x It's just one of those things, I guess. I think I have some friends who think I'm crazy, although my friend who screamed /really/ loud has to take the cake. ^^;;;x

I'm downloading Gravitation, because everyone seems to be watching it, and it has pretty boys kissing.

Maybe I should put the damn thing back into its case X.x Wrong arm, though.

The nice cleaning lady knocked the power cord out AGAIN, I replaced the cord with one that hopefully won't get knocked out so easily. It works now, at least. And I only tripped the power three times. ^^x

Went to the Orchard library with Kai-chan, checked out Fortress in the Eye of Time by CJ Cherryh, and I'm quite enjoying it. Good book, t'is--nice style, and I want to huggle Tristen to bitses and feed him cookies. Or something. Also checked out a book by Sheri S Tepper, which I haven't touched yet.

The package came! XD Package from Azh, some pictures and a really nice rose made of copper... nice.

It ran like a dream--/When/ you could get it to run, which was what Meia was trying to do now.

Today was Day 2.

I managed to unimpressively pass a literature test, even more unimpressively pass a A. math test, and quite impressively fail my E. maths. We got a semi-lecture from the literature teacher about the standard of my class and our work and how we compare to other classes. We got another lecture from the E. math teacher, although it was tamer than the other ones she's given us, which is a relief, because she is rather anal.

Half of a butterfly (head and wings) fell into the sink I was working at during Chemistry, and started flopping around. The other half landed in front of my bench, I think. It probably ran into the ceiling fan.

I was squicked. No one else particularly seemed to mind the dead flopping half a butterfly. >.<x

The chemistry teacher gave us a mild speech on how disappointed she was with us.

I came home straight after school with pretty much an "Ah, screw it." mentality.

...Some days just aren't quite worth waking up for.
